POSITION SUMMARY 

The Police Support Specialist plays an integral "behind the scenes" role in the smooth operation of The Grandview Police Department and supports a diverse group of internal and external customers. Police Support Specialists represent the face of the department at times and provide essential services to the community. The incumbent must be service-oriented to join our team of dedicated individuals who take pride in public service and will support the vision of our Unit; Quality – Efficient – Support. Police Support Specialists report to a Police Records Supervisor and will be a key member of the Police Administrative Services Division. This position is 25-29 hours weekly (Monday – Friday, five (5) hour shifts).

 

Job Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to)

  • Provides a variety of clerical, reception and/or record keeping duties to the Police Department
  • Typing correspondence, forms, documents and other materials from written or oral instructions
  • Prepare and perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Entering and updating information in computer databases verifying entered and updated information for accuracy
  • Answering and routing telephone calls, messages, and providing information or refers to appropriate person or agency
  • Greeting, screening and directing visitors, receiving citizen’s complaints
  • Receives payment for license applications, copies of police records, and other police services
  • Performs special projects and other work as assigned
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or citizen of a country that participates in the visa waiver program
  • CJIS certification at start of employment
  • MULES Certification within six (6) months of employment
  • Must successfully pass background and reference checks


Pay 

$14.00 - $18.58 per hour with paid holidays and PTO accrual
