Job Description:

This is a 12-month temporary position, with no benefits. This position in the Unified Government Public Health Department will work in collaboration with the Director's office on the job functions listed below. This position will support and assist in creating Health Department policies and procedures. Create standard operating procedures, manuals, and other correspondence relative to internal operations. This position will work alongside the director’s office to create a Health Department workforce development plan and framework for sustaining the plan. Establish departmental orientation training and supplemental documents to ensure acknowledgment of policies reviewed and timely completion of training annually. Provides technical support on the drafting of division/program-level standard operating procedures. Collaborate with the Unified Government Human Resources department to ensure Health Department job descriptions are up to date and ensure standardized language reflects the values of public health and job-specific requirements. This position will participate in continuous improvement efforts as necessary.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in public health, Emergency Planning, Human Resources, Workforce Development, Adult Training and Learning or a related field; and five years of increasingly responsible experience in the field of expertise; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Experience as a Policy Analyst, Technical Auditor, Technical Writer, Grant Writer, Policy Writer, Administrator, or other related position that requires extensive writing ability and assignments is preferred. Experience developing business reports, risk management, high-level correspondence, auditing, standard operating procedures, and procedure manuals is preferred. Master’s degree preferred in Public Administration or a related field.


All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte County or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. As a condition of employment, all employees must pass a post-offer physical examination and drug screen. And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.
