The Clay County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our dedicated team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the criminal justice process by supporting Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys and maintaining crucial legal documentation with care and precision. As a Legal Assistant, you'll play a key role in keeping our office running smoothly by:
- Processing and maintaining records related to criminal restitution
- Communicating with victims, law enforcement agencies, and outside partners
- Managing and filing legal documents including DWI cases and Department of Revenue files
- Monitoring court notifications, updating case files, and coordinating with prosecutors
- Assisting with redactions, certified conviction records, and docket schedules
- Providing back-up support for the front desk and other support staff as needed
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED , strong organizational skills, excellent communication, is comfortable using computers, office equipment, and legal management systems, and a commitment to confidentiality. The candidate will also need to be team player who can adapt quickly and thrives in a busy legal environment, able to multi-task, and manage time effectively. Possessing 6 months to one (1) year of clerical or legal office experience is preferred, but not required.
The employee will receive an annual salary along with a benefits package that includes two defined benefit retirement plans fully funded by the County and a deferred-compensation plan with a match on the first 4% contributed. We also offer three medical plans including two high deductible plans, dental, vision, two flexible spending accounts, and supplemental plans. Full-time employees are also offered life insurance (2X annual salary) paid by the County, paid vacation/sick leave, 14 paid holidays, LTD and tuition reimbursement
