Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related field, from an ABET accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in engineering design and management.
  • Advanced engineering degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri or able to obtain State of Missouri license within six months of hire.
  • Must be available for meetings with boards, commissions, committees or other community organizations and outside agencies that are held outside of normal business hours.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and acceptable driving record required.


Key Job Duties:

  • Supervises a team comprised of engineers, designers and analytical staff
  • Monitors overall progress, schedule and status of the team’s capital improvement projects.
  • Coordinates projects with Assistant Director of Operations and Operations and Maintenance Manager
  • Develops project budgets, schedules, and makes staff assignments for engineering support for programs in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan.
  • Responsible for Quality Control processes on engineering design projects, including proper review and preparation of plans for public infrastructure improvements.
  • Reviews professional services and construction contracts for division projects and programs prior to approval by the Deputy Director.
  • Reviews or assists Senior Staff Engineers in the creation and operation of the water and wastewater modeling.
