Several full-time positions available with the Aviation Department, Airport Police Division, located at 1 International Square. Normal Workdays/Hours: Placed on shift based on operational need. Mandatory overtime will be required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Enforcing critical laws, rules, and regulations to protect the property and people at the airport. 

• Managing vehicular and pedestrian traffic across bustling airport facilities, keeping everything running smoothly. 

• Responding to high-stakes crash, fire, and emergency situations, providing life-saving first aid in moments of need. 

• Screening passengers and luggage to detect dangerous weapons, explosives, or hazardous materials to keep everyone safe. 

• Collaborating with agencies, dignitaries, and large crowds, handling everything from bomb threats to preventing theft and vandalism, ensuring safety at all times! 

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

*** Department requires selected candidates to possess a valid Missouri Class A- P.O.S.T Certification at the time of appointment ***

REQUIRES high school graduation. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, post-offer physical examination, and psychological evaluation as prescribed by the City. Must successfully complete a 10-year FAA background check. Must be able to obtain a Class A P.O.S.T certification within six (6) months of employment. Must be eligible to obtain a special police commission as issued by the KCMO Police Department. Preference given to candidates that already have P.O.S.T. certification.
