Clay County is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the critical role of County Administrator. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, effective communicator, and proven leader with a passion for public service.

Clay County offers a competitive salary range of $148K to $209K DOQ and benefits package.

Clay County (population surpasses 250,000) is a diverse and growing region located in the northeast quadrant of the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. At 400+ square miles, Clay County ranked as the 5th largest county in Missouri. Clay County employees, approximately 515 full-time personnel, are supported by a FY 2024 Combined Funds Budget of over $160 million.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the county, aligning with community goals and priorities.

Financial Oversight: Manage the county's budget, oversee financial operations, and ensure fiscal responsibility.

Operational Excellence: Lead and supervise county departments, promoting efficiency, accountability, and high-quality service delivery.

Intergovernmental Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with federal, state, and local officials to advance county interests.

Community Engagement: Foster collaboration with community stakeholders, including businesses, nonprofits, and residents, to address local needs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field. Master’s degree is desirable.

ICMA member and adhere to Code of Ethics per Constitution.

Extensive experience in public sector management, preferably at a county level.

Strong financial acumen and knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting.

Proven leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire teams.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A deep commitment to public service and a passion for improving the quality of life for county residents.
