Clay County, Missouri seeks a dynamic, passionate, innovative leader to serve as its Road & Bridge Director with a strong track record of successfully managing all aspects of infrastructure maintenance, repair, and planning. Located in the Kansas City metropolitan area, Clay County is responsible for 380 miles of roadways, 70 bridges and related infrastructure that serve a rural/urban area with a growing population and welcoming communities. With a population of 257,000 residents, Clay County encompasses 409 square miles. A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, plus five (5) years’ experience in civil engineering related to current methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction, and maintenance of roadways, bridges, and related facilities is desired. Clay County is seeking a solutions-oriented leader with supervisory, customer relations, and vendor contract management experience. 

The hiring range for this position, dependent on qualifications, is $100,000 - $125,000 annually with an employee benefits package that includes two defined benefit retirement pension plans fully funded by the County, choice of three medical plans including two high deductible plans with County funded HSA. The option to include dental, vision, flexible spending, and supplemental plans. Full-time employees are also offered life insurance (2X annual salary) paid by the County, paid vacation/sick leave, 14 paid holidays, Long Term Disability, and tuition reimbursement.
