POSITION SUMMARY 

The Municipal Court Administrator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the City of Grandview's Municipal Court. This position ensures the court operates efficiently, fairly, and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and city policies. The Administrator provides leadership, supervises court staff, manages budgets, maintains court records, and coordinates with judges, law enforcement, attorneys, and the public. Will require evening hours for court sessions on Mondays. Work is performed under the direction of the Municipal Division Court Judge within the 16th Judicial Circuit of Jackson County.

 

Job Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to)

  • Assist the Municipal Judge in all aspects of court operation; plan, organize and direct all non-judicial activities of the Court
  • Manage and direct the day-to-day operations of the Municipal Court, including court sessions, dockets, records, and filings
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate court staff including clerks and administrative personnel
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and court procedures, including records retention and reporting requirements
  • Oversee the processing of citations, warrants, fines, court appearances, and case scheduling
  • Monitor case management systems and ensure data accuracy and security
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance court operations and customer service
  • Prepare reports and presentations for city leadership and stakeholders as needed
  • All other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Three to five years’ prior experience in office management

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite

Valid driver’s license

Must successfully pass background and reference checks


Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, criminal justice, or related field preferred

3–5 years of experience in court administration, legal administration, or municipal government

Proficient in the use of case management software

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Requires the ability to operate a variety of office equipment such as computer, telephone, fax machine, printer and photocopier

Requires the ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing movements requiring skill and training, such as data entry

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds

Tasks will involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation

Requires the ability to recognize and identify individual characteristics of shapes and sounds associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks

Typical office environment with regular hours; will require evening hours for court sessions or public meetings; frequent interaction with the public, city officials, and legal professionals. May be exposed to highly stressful situations and individuals who are irate or hostile. Occasional driving is required to attend special meetings at various City facilities, training sites, and public and private events.


Pay and Benefits

$53,767 - $86,013 annually, depending on qualifications. Grandview has an excellent benefits package including a 100% City funded L6 LAGERS pension plan (https://www.molagers.org/join-the-lagers-community/), Aetna Health plan, Dental and Vision plans.
