Johnson County Mental Health Center (JCMHC) is excited to announce an opportunity for a Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) Leader. This role involves leading a dynamic team dedicated to providing rapid, community-based behavioral health crisis interventions within a 1-hour response time. The MCRT is dispatched through referrals from the JCMHC 988 Crisis Line to de-escalate and resolve crises directly in the community.
About the Team:
JCMHC is building a robust and innovative MCRT that currently includes three clinicians and two case managers, supported by additional staff for shift coverage. This team operates 7 days a week and is set to expand to 24/7 coverage by 2025. The MCRT plays a critical role in reducing unnecessary mental health calls for first responders by providing expert crisis intervention services.
Position Details:
The MCRT Team Leader will be based out of JCMHC’s Mission, KS office and primarily work business hours (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Flexibility for occasional evening hours will be necessary to support team training and supervision aligned with the team’s schedule. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of this essential team while enhancing Johnson County’s crisis response continuum.
Johnson County has implemented a skill-based pay plan of up to $4200 annually for staff who have obtained licensure by the BSRB at the Clinical Level.

Job Description
- Provide clinical oversight and supervision to crisis responders, meeting regularly with staff to ensure high-quality service delivery, including training in crisis intervention, safety, suicide prevention, and care coordination.
- Monitor compliance with Center and State documentation guidelines, addressing discrepancies identified during quality reviews.
- Manage the MCRT monthly schedule for 24/7 operations, ensuring adequate coverage and efficiency.
- Facilitate team meetings and participate in group consultations to address client needs, maintain program consistency, and problem-solve challenges.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, EMS, and other first responders to ensure seamless coordination during escalated crises.
- Monitor staff performance, provide regular feedback, address performance issues, and conduct annual evaluations with pay recommendations.
- Identify and resolve barriers to service delivery at staff, program, and community levels while fostering positive working relationships internally and externally.
- Participate in leadership meetings and maintain awareness of JCMHC programs to enhance inter-program collaboration and service delivery.
- Occasionally work in the field for supervision and coverage, providing direct consultation and support during challenging situations.
- Promote community awareness and education about the Mobile Crisis Response Team, enhancing understanding and engagement.
Job Requirements
- Master’s level degree in Social Work or relevant field; Kansas licensure* at the Master's level (e.g. LSCSW, LMSW, LPC, LCPC, LMLP, LCP, LCMFT); one (1) year of leading, directing, supervising or coordinating the work of others; three (3) years of clinical experience working with children; and valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
- *Applicants who meet Kansas licensure requirements may be considered if Kansas licensure is obtained by time of an employment offer and licensure is pending confirmation at the time of employment application.
- Kansas licensure at the Clinical level and one (1) year of experience working in a community-based services environment or relevant environment preferred.
