Requirements

  • Graduation from an ABET accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field required
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri or able to obtain a Missouri license within one year of hire required
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in engineering with a focus on water and wastewater projects/services required
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and acceptable driving record required


    Key Job Duties:

    • General knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to the water/wastewater industry
    • Extensive knowledge of water & wastewater utility construction standards and methods
    • Extensive knowledge of water/wastewater operations and maintenance
    • Skills in engineering design, analysis and calculations
    • Skills in technical writing and correspondence and ability to communicate orally with consulting engineers, contractors, developers, the public and city staff and elected officials
    • Skills in project management administration, general understanding of contracts, and the ability to interpret construction contracts and specifications
    • Personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and data base
    • Ability to organize and supervise the activities of others
    • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and with suppliers or the public as needed

Who You Are:

  • Must have strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, train, direct, and motivate employees
  • Must have extensive knowledge of local, regional and national utility and business-related practices.   
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of water and wastewater operations including design, construction, collection, distribution, metering, billing and financing.
  • High level of organizational skills and understanding of project management
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact tactfully under stressful situations
