Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport, located at 900 NW Richards Road.

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. *Mandatory overtime during inclement weather and emergencies.

Job Responsibilities:

•  Assists a supervisor or lead worker, located at the Downtown Airport, in performing various repairs to maintain the safe and efficient operation of the airport.

•  Performs of a variety of tasks involved in the installation, alteration, inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, automotive or small equipment, wood and metal parts, or plumbing fixtures; and the construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of facilities, asphalt and concrete pavement, brick, masonry, wood, or steel structures, to include general carpentry, drywall, painting, grounds keeping, and mowing.

•  Operates, maintains, repairs, inspects, and provides general upkeep of all equipment and tools associated with duties listed, including a variety of light to heavy motorized construction and airfield snow removal equipment.

•  Performs a substantial amount of manual labor and assignments which progressively increase in the levels of skills and complexity required.

•  Ability to stand/kneel/walk for extended periods of time, repeatedly lift 50-pound objects, and to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

•  Position is subject to call-in or overtime after normal work hours at any time due to operational needs including emergency snow removal mandatory shifts of up to 12 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

REQUIRES completion of a trade school or a shop training program; OR 6 months experience in general maintenance and repair work. May be required to obtain a valid MO Class A,B, or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department. If moving from a non-safety-sensitive position, must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
