On behalf of the Mid-America LEPC. HEPA, we are pleased to announce the “Tactical Chemistry for Emergency Responders” course. This training opportunity is sponsored by Kansas Hazardous Materials Emergency Planning (HMEP) funds.This is a 16-hour course delivered on a shift-friendly schedule over the course of 2 days. The course covers the chemistry of hazardous materials with live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and lots of chemical identification exercises using a variety of air monitoring and sample identification equipment including pH paper, oxidizer paper, halogen detectors, multi-gas instruments, PIDs, Raman and FTIR spectrometers. Students will get hands-on experience with over three dozen different chemicals.
Priority registration is for the Mid-America LEPC. The Mid-America LEPC/HEAP service area spans eight counties in the Greater Kansas City region: Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte in Kansas; and Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray in Missouri.
There is no cost to attend, but you must register. Please select and register for one of the Day 1 and one of the Day 2 training dates.
