Regional Innovation Forum: Artificial Intelligence and the Public Sector

Description

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has increased dramatically over the past year, whether through standalone tools like ChatGPT or built-in AI assistants in familiar platforms like Zoom and Microsoft 365.

Join us for a panel discussion on the ethical and legal implications of AI and machine learning and hear from a local city administrator who is engaging with leaders all over the country to learn more about its impacts on local government.

Panelists include:

  • Alexa Barton, city administrator for Parkville, Missouri
  • Ryan Copus, associate professor of law for UMKC Law School
  • Matthew Pjecha, ethics lead for the Ethical AI Initiative at the Center for Practical Bioethics
  • David Rowe, chief of staff for MetroLab Network

We will also get updates from a technology leader with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington. 

After the panel presentations, there will be a facilitated question-and-answer session for audience participation.
