Becoming an Inclusive Leader is a two-day experiential training designed to empower supervisors and managers with essential skills and knowledge in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). Participants will immerse themselves in interactive modules, covering crucial topics such as trust-building, navigating challenging communications, understanding generational diversity, and fostering connections within diverse teams.
The program emphasizes practical application, providing leaders with tools to create a trustworthy, transparent, and inclusive work environment. By engaging in constructive dialogues and building authentic relationships, participants will be equipped to champion DEIB initiatives, drive positive change, and cultivate a culture of belonging and respect within their organizations. Participants will focus on creating action plans concerning their role as an agent of change to cultivate a sense of belonging in their agencies.
About the instructor, Dr. Antoinette L. Allen:
Dr. Allen is a founding member of The Leadership Institute of Forgiveness and Truth, (LIFT). A retired military officer with a 30-year public service record, Dr. Allen began her career in the United States Air Force. She holds a PhD in Education from Old Dominion University and has a passion for story gathering and telling. Her professional journey includes roles as a technical advisor at the IRS Leadership Academy, a faculty member at the Federal Executive Institute, and a senior manager in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She most recently served as the director of The Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.
Renowned for incorporating creative arts into leadership training, Dr. Allen is an award-winning poet, a published author, a lifelong dancer, and an international speaker whose first TEDx talk was entitled, “Forgiveness is a Song We Must Learn and Sing.”. Celebrated for her energy and warmth, she is a certified life coach with a focus on executive coaching. Dr. Allen's distinguished career in leadership, education, and artistic expression has earned her numerous awards, including the IRS Commissioner’s Award, the Department of Justice Attorney General’s award for Excellence in Equal Employment Opportunity, the Army Meritorious Service Medal, and an Air National Guard Hometown Heroes award.
