Situational Leadership - Building Leaders

Description

The Situational Leadership® Model equips leaders with the skills to match their behaviors with the performance needs of the individual or group that they are attempting to influence. Based on two fundamental research questions: “What is the best leadership style?” and “What are the driving forces behind human motivation?” the Situational Leadership® Model focuses on the relationship between leaders and followers and provides a framework to analyze each situation depending on the Performance Readiness® Level that a follower exhibits in performing a specific task. The leader then responds with the necessary amounts of supportive behavior and directive behavior to advance development.

Also included with the class is a 12-question pre-class assessment which will be reviewed during the class to help you review your leadership style.  The people you invite to provide you with feedback are also answering the same 12 questions about your typical leadership approach.


Course objectives:

  • Prepare leaders to effectively deal with any situation, opportunity or challenge.
  • Teach leaders the skills needed to determine Performance Readiness® among team members.
  • Provide leaders with an action-oriented framework to immediately increase the quantity and quality of performance conversations.
  • Enhance the work environment with improved performance and teamwork.

Course Instructor:

Gayle Hopkins, MA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, is the owner of Organizational Performance Solutions LLC in Lee's Summit, Mo. She has nearly 30 years’ experience in the field of human resources and organizational development. Hopkins has developed competency models for multiple organizations and has experience in succession planning, performance management, leadership development and helping managers improve the performance of their own departments.

Time

There will be a one-hour lunch.  Lunch and refreshments are on your own.
