Share thoughts and ideas with fellow public sector professionals on the future of data and AI in our work.

Come away with new ideas to create an innovative environment, learn how to integrate AI in your data work in a way that is useful and reliable, and make many new and renewed connections with other data leaders across our region.

Registration is free but required.

Who should attend?

Anyone with a role or interest in data, technology, AI, and organizational leadership, including analysts, department directors, city managers, elected officials, and others, are encouraged to attend!

Breakout sessions

During registration, you will have the option to choose topics for two breakout tracks.

Track 1 is intended for leaders and managers in organizations responsible for building cultures of innovation with data.
Track 2 is intended for those with more technical roles responsible for making decisions on governance in their organizations.

Leadership track: Building a culture of innovation and information in public sector organizations
- Session 1 — Data storytelling for local government decision-makers

- Session 2 — The emerging landscape of data for economic mobility for city leaders
  - Panel discussion including:
    - Julie Lorenz, principal consultant, 1898 & Co.
    - Josh Akers, director of research, Kauffman Foundation
    - Todd Jordan, vice president, community impact and executive director, 211, United Way of Greater Kansas City
Technical track: AI reality check: Turning data into decisions you can trust
- Session 1 — What's possible: AI in plain English, what it can do today, what it can't, and where governments are already finding value
  - Facilitated by the UMKC Data Science and Analytics Innovation Center
- Session 2 — What's practical: Moving from exploration to application
  - Facilitated by the UMKC Data Science and Analytics Innovation Center
